Gardens Galore
Sundays, in general, are a great day for a stroll. Maybe through town, maybe on the beach, or perhaps through a garden. Well luckily down in St. Kilda (beach suburb of Melbourne) we can do all of the above! First a quick walk through town. watching the people watching you, jumpin into a few odd little shops, looking out for the out of the ordinary:

(yes it is purple and yes it is sparkly).
Then continuing on to find the source of the music that could be heard all the way at our apartment. Lucky for us it was the opening day of the community gardens!

There was cheap food, live music, face painting, balloon animals, and apparently a ‘vote for your favorite garden plot’ contest. (Strange, but alright).

So Ruth, Kristina and I walked around leafy green paths, and tried to point out the best little plot of land.

Was it the one with the dragon guarding the entrance?

Or the one with the handsome many under the arch?

Or the one made to look like a pirate ship? My vote’s for the pirate ship.
After that, a quick stroll on the beach where it was almost too windy to stand upright. Then on our way to the St. Kilda Botanic Gardens (not to be confused with the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne, which I have yet to go to and are apparently A-mazing.)
Nothing too exciting…it was basically a very nice park.

With a little gazebo that might suit a nice, small outdoor wedding.

And these birds which are EVERYWHERE! As common as a robin or even a pigeon back home. But in my opinion these are far prettier. They are big and white with a little yellow crown on top of their heads.
So in conclusion…Sunday turned out to be the perfect day to stop and smell the roses. (wow, I’m cliche)
